Apprenticeships

I joined Fred. Olsen Limited in 2016 as an Accounts Apprentice, working towards my AAT qualification. One day a week I attended College for tuition, which really helped me with my studies as I could apply what I was learning into real-life scenarios. I had great support from my team throughout my Apprenticeship, who were always there to help me with anything I was struggling with. After passing my AAT, I was promoted to an Assistant Accountant where I support the Treasury & Company Accountant. I also produce the management accounts for one of the group companies, Forrest Estate Limited. Fred. Olsen Limited is an excellent place to work. There is a strong family feel to the company, everyone really looks out for each other. There are lots of sports and social events to get involved in and I’m especially a fan of the food events!

I started at Fred. Olsen Limited as a Facilities Operative Apprentice with little confidence and experience. However, through the amazing support given by my peers and the staff around me I managed to pass my Apprenticeship with a Merit. Because of the strong focus our company has on employee wellbeing and career growth I have been able to achieve more than I could have imagined and have now commenced my Facilities Management Supervisor Level 3 Apprenticeship, in which I have been given my first project. The whole experience I had at Fred. Olsen Limited throughout my Apprenticeship has been brilliant and has given me great confidence for my future.

I joined Fred. Olsen Limited in June 2024 after completing my A Levels and I am currently completing my Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship. I work on the IT Service Desk, providing 1st line IT support to the Fred. Olsen Related Companies, taking calls and responding to emails that come into the department. My Apprenticeship course has strengthened my knowledge of IT systems, especially Microsoft 365 and Windows. Additionally, it has provided me with background knowledge of these systems which means I can troubleshoot more effectively when users are experiencing issues.  What I like most about working at Fred. Olsen Limited is the fact that no day is the same, I always have something new to learn or work out and I am exposed to so many different learning opportunities.

I joined Fred. Olsen Limited in 2022 as an Apprentice within the Payroll team, working towards my Business Administration Level 3 qualification. The apprenticeship really helped build my confidence within the workplace and develop my understanding of the business as well as providing me with useful skills. After finishing my Apprenticeship with a Distinction I was promoted to an Assistant for the Payroll and the Recruitment teams. This role has given me the opportunity to continue building on the skills I learned during my Apprenticeship as well as a chance to learn new skills in other areas. Fred. Olsen Limited is a wonderful place to work. What I like most about working here is the amazing people I get to work with who have been welcoming since day one and given me the opportunity to learn new things every day.
